Property can present many complicated and sensitive legal issues, and Sam has built a reputation with his expertise, practical approach and friendly, personal service.
Sam’s clients range from large-scale property developers and financers, to first home buyers and experienced investors. While their needs vary, he appreciates that each client’s matter represents something significant to each of them, be it a major investment or their first home.
From leasing and conveyancing transactions to development agreements and joint venture arrangements, Sam prides himself on providing thorough, reliable and effective advice. He is one of a small group of Victorian lawyers accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as property law specialists.
Madelaine leads Grindal Legal’s business and finance functions and is a member of the firm’s leadership team, managing the firm’s current services and future growth.
Madelaine has a hands on role with some of Grindal Legal’s most important matters, providing financial and business acumen in support of the property and mortgage team. Her experience in trust regulation and complex transactions is an invaluable asset to the firm.
Madelaine also ensures the smooth running of the firm’s day-to-day operations, managing finances, HR, IT and all other needs of the firm.
Madelaine holds a Bachelor of Business Management from RMIT University and is a member of the Australasian Legal Practice Management Association.
Extensive experience in all aspects of commercial and residential property transactions including leasing, subdivisions, owners corporations and general property law has provided Christine with the necessary know-how to provide practical and sound advice to her clients.
Christine’s practice also extends to the areas of Wills and Estates, a team which she currently leads as our Senior Associate alongside Principal, Sam Grindal. Christine can provide you with thorough advice about amending or preparing your Will in the context of your family circumstances, business, trust and superannuation structures to ensure your wishes are reflected appropriately.
Irrespective of the brief, Christine is passionate about providing prompt and accessible service and achieving the desired results for her clients. Christine’s ability to form strong client relationships is attributable to her sensitive yet pragmatic approach which is respected by her peers and clients.
Admitted in 2013, Damian has broad experience across a variety of property, construction and commercial transactions. Damian’s practice focuses on property sales, conveyancing and retail leasing, and he has a keen interest in mixed-use developments.
Before joining Grindal Legal, Damian spent three years in-house at a property development company, where he was involved across all stages of the project cycle. Through this role, Damian gained strong commercial grounding and developed a detailed understanding of the broader property industry.
Damian focuses on building relationships with his clients to ensure he is attuned to their needs and can best harness his experience to produce sound legal advice and achieve excellent commercial outcomes.
Mortgage Team Leader
Having being involved in the banking and finance industry both in Sydney and Melbourne for over 10 years, Stephanie has gained extensive experience and an understanding of client expectation across multiple settings.
Stephanie’s intuitive connection to the needs of the client, the lender, and the borrower have been fostered and developed through exposure to a variety of environments and positions within the industry, which has led to her to managing the mortgage team at Grindal Legal.
Stephanie’s excellent communication skills, along with her proactive and friendly approach, provide our clients with peace of mind across all aspects of the mortgage lending process.
With more than a decade of conveyancing experience, Ashleigh is a trusted member of Grindal Legal’s property team. She is adept at detecting and solving issues in property transactions quickly and decisively, and always with the best result for her clients in mind.
Ashleigh has represented a broad set of clients, including property developers, investors, and first home buyers, with both large commercial and personal property matters having benefitted from her attention to detail and in-depth knowledge.

Emily is undertaking her practical legal training at Grindal Legal having recently graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours).
Emily has experience dealing in residential conveyancing transactions and contracts and is keen to start building on this experience in the areas of property and wills and estates law.
Emily enjoys interacting with our clients and peers, working in partnership with them to find the best approach and solution.
Matt was admitted to practice in early 2018 after graduating from a Law/Arts Degree. Matt joined Grindal Legal as one of the initial members of our mortgage team and his dedication to quality assurance and ability to adapt to changing technology requirements has helped the team grow and thrive over the last 12 months.
Matt has a keen interest in property law and is always happy to assist our clients when it comes to property or mortgage-related queries.
Over the past two years of working in the banking and finance industry, Anne has developed an excellent understanding of mortgage and conveyancing documentation requirements. Anne manages a high volume of files from inception through to completion, whilst maintaining a calm and considered approach.
She enjoys building relationships with clients and stakeholders to enable successful outcomes.
Sitting within the operations team, Amanda’s keen attention to detail ensures the effective administration of Grindal Legal’s accounting requirements.
Amanda has over five years of experience in working in the legal industry and holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Commercial Law from Auckland University of Technology.
Before pursuing a career in legal administration, Louise had a varied and extensive technical career in scientific research and analysis in both the public and private sectors. Despite the seemingly different natures of these professions, Louise has been able to leverage the skills she developed in science including a high level of organisation, attention to detail, and creative problem solving to her role as an Administrative Assistant at Grindal Legal.
Louise assists in ensuring that the firm’s day-to-day operations run as efficiently and effectively as possible. She is front-of-house and helps our clients and peers with their general queries.
The administrative support Louise provides, along with her can-do attitude, allows the Grindal Legal team to focus their attention on delivering the best possible service and outcomes to our clients.
